Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre
Introduite accidentellement en Europe au XVII siécle, avec des peaux de castors en provenance du Canada qu'elle servait...
Discover the ideal image of a fortified castle with its keep and entrance curtain complete with machicolations.
A castle rooted in its region. Fougères differs from the châteaux of the Loire region by its plain and mighty architecture. The walls are made of hard calcareous Beauce ragstone, while a softer white stone, tuffeau, taken from the banks of the Cher River, has been used for the moulded and sculpted parts.
To ensure the safety of our visitors, the monument is strictly applying the security measures decided by the french authorities.
